TRADING POLICY

How to pay

A non-refundable 10% deposit is required to secure the registration number with the balance becoming due within 7 days of the purchase date.

Payment of deposit and balance can be by personal cheque with a clearance time of 7 days being allowed before any processing of your order takes place.

We also accept cash or bank transfer direct to our account (please ask for full details if you wish to pay by this method).

DVLA transfer fees

In addition to the purchase price of the registration number you have decided to buy, there are DVLA fees to pay to cover the cost of transfer to either your vehicle or to a certificate.

These fees are an £80.00 assignment fee and a £25.00 fee to cover the charge DVLA make to change the nominee name on the certificate into the purchasers name.

Buyers must pay these fees when purchasing the number, but after that when you receive the retention certificate or certificate of entitlement, there is usually nothing more to pay to put the number on your vehicle - apart from the purchase of a set of number plates - which you can have made up yourself or we can supply for you at very competitive rates.

All correspondence between MotorPlates, yourself and the DVLA uses recorded delivery.

How long does it take ?

Once we have received your full payment and your funds have cleared, we will complete and send all the relevant documentation to the DVLA. This can take up to 4 weeks but, in practice, is usually faster. We will forward the relevant documents to you to enable you to proceed to put the number plate on your vehicle the very same day we receive them back from the DVLA.

Refunds

We do NOT allow refunds. Please make absolutely sure that the registration you intend to buy or have bought is EXACTLY what you require. Also please make sure that it is suitable for the age of vehicle you have in mind. If you are in any doubt at all, PLEASE email us and ask ... we do not charge for advice.
